ABOUT NORTH ODISHA TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY

 


The North Odisha Technical University (NOTU) was established by the Odisha Government under Section 32 of the Odisha University Act, 1989 (Act 5 of 1989), vide notification No. 880 dated 13th July 1998. Formerly it is known as North Orissa University. The NOTU became operational in 1999. The North Odisha Technical University is located at Takatpur (99.94 acres) in the Mayurbhanj District of Odisha and its other campus is located at Kadopada of Kalahandi District as an affiliating university. The NOTU is recognized by the University Grants Commission. The University provides many UG courses, PG courses, BBA, MBA, MSW, BSW, B.TECH, M.TECH, BCA, MCA, BJMC, MJMC, BLIB, MLIB, B.ED, M.ED, D.EL.ED, D.ED, B.PED, C.PED, DIPLOMA, BA, MA, B.COM, M.COM, B.SC, M.SC, and many more job-oriented courses, professional courses, traditional courses, technical courses, and management courses. The University has 123 buildings of Academic, Administrative, and support services with a plinth area of about 22 lakhs sq.ft., and 328 staff quarters. Presently the University catering to the Educational needs of four green districts of Odisha namely Kalahandi, Nuapada, Mayurbhanj, and Keunjhar.

The University campus is having 25 hostels for men which can accommodate more than 3500 students and twelve hostels exclusively for women with a capacity of more than 1800 seats. Three Hostels are specially constructed for foreign students. The University has also two Residential Health Centres one on the south campus and the other on the north campus and a home Dispensary. The University has four Guest Houses, Central Canteen, and four canteens at various locations, Press and Publication division, Women Waiting Halls, Faculty Club, and Schools for Employees Children.

The University is also having student services and welfare centers on the campus like the post and Telegraph office, Banking facilities, University employment, and Guidance Bureau, a training and placement center, and a sports complex including a Gymnasium Hall.
